Ways to Help Prevent the Spread of COVID-19

Ever since the start of the pandemic, the coronavirus is still here with us and would be staying for some time. Although there are already vaccines being invented to protect people from this virus, it would still help a lot if we don more than just getting ourselves vaccinated. People are the main vessel of transport for this virus.

It thrives on crowded spaces and gets easily passed on from one person to another, spreading and infecting more people if they aren’t protected. It is our responsibility to help prevent the spread of this virus to gradually bring back the normal life we had before. Here are some of the things you could do to help prevent the spread of this virus.

    Wear a Mask

Wearing a mask works both ways. It protects you from the virus from others and you could also protect them as well, just in case you are feeling sick. However, you should wear the mask properly for better efficiency. Be sure that it covers your nose, mouth, and chin. There are medical grade masks that offer the best protection such as P2 respirators and N95. Dispose the mask after using or wash it immediately if it is a fabric mask.

    Avoid Crowded Spaces

Crowded spaces and indoor places are the areas where coronavirus thrives well. Since people are in close proximity in these places, it is easy for the virus to get passed on between people especially in cases when they can’t wear a mask, like while eating or drinking.

It is best to avoid closed and crowded spaces and avoid close contact with people. Maintain a safe distance while mingling with people and if possible, it is better to hold gatherings outdoors. If you need to hold a gathering indoors, see to it that the space has good ventilation. You could increase natural ventilation in an area by opening windows and doors.

    Maintain Good Hygiene

Lastly, maintaining good hygiene is an important part of avoiding disease, whether it is the coronavirus or not. Viruses and bacteria can stay on our skin, putting us at high risk of getting infected since we can’t really see these microorganisms. Lower your risk of getting sick by maintaining good hygiene to kill all those pathogenic microorganisms.

Aside from showering upon coming home, be sure to wash your hands regularly all throughout the day and disinfect it with alcohol or sanitizer. Don’t forget to disinfect the things you frequently touch such as the phone, doorknobs, faucets, and many more.

Those 3 steps are the basic things you could do in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. However, in case you are feeling unwell or you think that you have the symptoms of COVID, it is best to stay indoors, isolate yourself, and call a healthcare provider for medical advice on how to handle the situation. If the symptoms can still be managed, it is best to stay at home and recover so it doesn’t spread to other people.
