Borderline Personality Disorder

About 14 million people in the United States have a borderline personality disorder (BPD), a stigmatized and misunderstood mental illness. It affects 5.9% of adults in the United States. When someone is a teenager or in their early 20s, it’s easy to think that bad behavior or “teenage angst” is what’s going on when the person is having a hard time.

People who have borderline personality disorder in our community told us what it was like to grow up with borderline personality disorder that had not been diagnosed or had not yet formed.

They said this:

1. I have been very sensitive to everything every time I can remember, even in the first grade. I remember that I always felt different and very alone. A look back shows that it took hold around the age of 14. There were a lot of borderline personality disorder symptoms at that point, like anger and drug and alcohol abuse. I’m 20 now, and I’ve learned how to deal with some things, but it’s still a fight I have to fight every day.

2. It’s about their impulsiveness and reckless behavior, as well as their trouble keeping healthy relationships. The black-and-white thinking, the self-harming behaviors, and so on, Pushing and pulling people into and out of my life, as well.

3. “I always thought I felt everything more than other people did. People didn’t seem to care about things I was excited about. There were times when I was excited because my team scored a point in the past. I looked around and wondered why no one else was as excited. Even when I was angry about an injustice, I was told anyone could do nothing. I was told to calm down and be quiet all the time.

Fourth: “A friend of mine, who I thought was my best friend, asked to sit next to another girl in class next.” Because I thought she didn’t like me, I fell to the ground and cried my heart out. At that moment, I hated her with all of my heart, mind, and soul. Then I cried for days.

5. “No matter how good things were, I could always find a flaw in them.” When the wall that was up kept rising, I could never get to it.

In number six, “extreme sensitivity. I would make people look good, then push them away. I was afraid of being left behind the most. Anger would eat me up, and I thought I could not get rid of it unless I hurt myself. In that case, I’d be very ashamed and guilty about it. I think I scratched at my face and hair when I was 4, think.

How does it feel when you’re a close friend, and then you start hating their guts and start to like them again? In high school, I hurt myself. I had only two or three close friends when you were younger. IT WAS VERY HARD FOR ME when I tried to make and keep friends. I was very sensitive to emotions and would get hurt very quickly. All of these things I can now see as signs of my BPD.

8. “I was only diagnosed a year ago, but now that I think about it, everything makes sense.” As far back as I can remember, I was very sensitive, had a lot of mood swings, and would self-harm when I was angry or hurt. I would freak out if there were any last-minute changes to the plans I had made. I was afraid of being left. After a few years, I realized it was more than just depression and anxiety.”

Moving from city to city and job to job, thinking my problems would go away if I moved to a new city. This means that I now have a very unstable work history, and it is very hard for me to get a job.

ten. “Dissociation.” Some things make you feel like you’re not even in your own body, and that’s what made me think I had something else going on other than depression. There aren’t many people who talk about dissociation, and I don’t know why. It scared me more than any anxiety attack had ever scared me. Brain fog is so thick that it seems like it will never end. You can’t think, talk, or do anything else. You are completely numb from the inside and out, and you don’t feel anything. As it gets worse, I start to think that there is no me, and it’s very scary. Even if you think you’re the only one who felt this way (which was the case for me for months).

11. “I thought I’d always be alone and that I wasn’t good enough to have friends. People say I’m in a better place now and getting treatment for five months. There is a woman named Isobel T.

I was very sensitive and always wanted to be everyone’s best friend as a child. I was also very hard on myself and thought everyone was talking about me behind my back. I loved people too much and thought everyone was talking about me behind my back.

13. “I have been very sensitive my whole life.” The first time an adult raised their voice, I would cry. I also couldn’t seem to have a long-term relationship with my peers when I was a child. My friendships were always very up and down and one-sided in high school. I didn’t believe in myself, and I started cutting when I was 13 because I didn’t like myself. A lot of people at first thought I was depressed and anxious. I was so different from other kids because I was different from other kids. Now it all makes sense to me.

14. “Black-and-white thought.” Am I a good or bad person? I love or hate you. A: Don’t leave me. I want to be alone. “With each of these problems, there is no middle ground; there is no balance or stability.”

There were always ups and downs. None of my friends stayed close to me. There were times when I felt nervous, and I didn’t have much confidence in myself. When I was in social situations, I often felt very strong emotions that overwhelmed me and made me feel isolated and unimportant. I didn’t know where I belonged or if I’d ever find someone who would love and understand me. I felt like I had no place to go. I was so afraid that my friends would leave me that I did everything to make them love me. At 14, I began self-harming to keep myself from falling apart and get people to notice me.

I used to push people away to see if they could handle it and show myself that I wasn’t a good person. 16. My extreme impulsiveness, self-harm, constant suicidal thoughts, and so on were all signs that I was very depressed as a teen. The people around me thought this was just because I was a teenager and wanted to get attention. As a result, I had to deal with it for years without getting help. I’m still in a state of shock that I could make it through that.

17. I’ve had a lot of trouble with overspending money and hurting myself. So many things that were not even really made me cry. I also had difficulty dealing with how my moods would change so often. Then, when I look back, I can see that I’ve had this for a while. It feels good now that it has a name.

18. “I felt lonely, unappreciated, and so very different,” I said.

I’m going to get very emotional about almost everything. CSI and other violent TV shows were too violent for me to handle. Even if I read a book, I would get into the book’s mood right away. It would make me happy or sad, depending on how the book ended. I was and still am more sensitive when I was and still am in touch with other people. I would get very angry even if they didn’t mean to. In the past, I thought I was not good enough. That everything I did was wrong and I was to blame for it. Even when I was nine years old, I was cutting myself. When I was younger, I didn’t like myself and lacked confidence in myself. When I was 19, I was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and bipolar disorder. At that point, everything began to make sense. All the things I thought were bad about myself had a name. Not that that made it any easier for me to accept it at all. I’m now 24, and I’m finally ready to accept that this is how I was made. And please don’t assume that it is my fault.

Splitting and Borderline Personality Disorder Everything is black or white in this protection mechanism.

Splitting is a medical word that describes the inability to retain contradictory thoughts, feelings, or beliefs simultaneously. Some may say that a splitter perceives the world in black and white terms—all or nothing. It’s a warped method of thinking in which a person’s or event’s positive or bad characteristics aren’t weighed or correlated.

What Is Splitting?

Splitting is considered a defence mechanism by which people with borderline personality disorder (BPD) can view people, events, or even themselves in all-or-nothing terms. Splitting allows individuals to quickly abandon things they’ve labelled as “bad” and embrace what they deem “excellent,” even if they’re dangerous.

Effects of Splitting

Splitting can cause problems in relationships and lead to self-destructive and extreme actions. A person who splits will usually frame individuals or events in absolute terms, with no room for discussion in the middle.

Examples

The following are some examples of splitting behaviour:

• Individuals might be “evil” and “crooked” or “angels” and “perfect.”

• Science, history, or current events are “total truths” or “complete lies.”

• Things either “always” or “never” happen.

• A person will feel “cheated,” “ruined,” or “screwed” when things go wrong.

Splitting is even more perplexing because the belief might be rock-solid at times or fluctuate from one moment to the next. People who break up are frequently perceived as too theatrical or overblown, mainly when declaring that things have “totally come apart” or “fully turned around.” Those around them may become exhausted as a result of their actions.

  Symptoms

Splitting may appear to be a rather typical occurrence, one that we can easily relate to a variety of people we know, including ourselves. Splitting, on the other hand, is a constant and warped behaviour that is often accompanied by additional symptoms, such as:

• Putting on a show (acting without consideration to consequences)

• Ignorance (consciously ignoring a fact or reality)

• Emotional hypochondriasis is a type of hypochondriasis that occurs when a person (trying to get others to understand how severe your emotional pain is)

• All-powerful (the belief that you possess superiority in intelligence or power)

• Aggression that is passive (an indirect expression of hostility)

• Prediction (assigning an undesirable emotion to someone else)

• Identification that is projected (denying your feelings, projecting them onto someone else, and then behaving toward that person in a way that forces them to respond to you with the feelings you projected onto them)

Diagnosis and Management

Understanding the diagnosis and treatment of borderline personality disorder will help you comprehend behaviours like splitting.

Diagnosis

A competent mental health specialist is the only one who can diagnose BPD. The doctor would need to confirm five of the nine symptoms listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) to make the diagnosis, which include:2

• A distorted self-perception that influences your emotions, values, moods, and relationships

• Anger problems, such as violent outbursts followed by a sense of tremendous guilt and sorrow

• Attempts to escape abandonment or thoughts of abandonment that is intense

• Prolonged bouts of extreme depression, anxiety, or irritation

• Feeling empty or bored all the time

• Impulsive conduct, such as substance abuse or careless driving

• Relationships that are tumultuous and tumultuous.

Suicidal thinks and self-harming behaviors.

If you have suicidal thoughts

contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 for support and assistance from a trained counsellor. If you or a loved one are in immediate danger, call 911. For more mental health resources, see our National Helpline Database.

Caring and Management

There is no simple solution for dealing with a loved one who suffers from BPD, especially when severe symptoms. The nature of your relationship and the impact your loved one’s symptoms have on your family will determine how you cope.

There are, nevertheless, some guiding concepts that may be useful, such as:

3 • Develop empathy. Begin by remembering that splitting is a symptom of the disease. While some of your loved one’s activities may appear to be calculated and manipulative, your loved one is not acting in this way to get satisfaction. These are just protective strategies that they employ when they are feeling helpless.

• Encourage and support your loved one’s treatment. Treatment, which may include medication and talk therapy, most likely dialectical behaviour therapy, can help your loved one live a better life (DBT). Please encourage them to begin or continue treatment and learn as much as possible about their situation. Participate in counselling with your loved one if necessary.

• Keep lines of communication open. When you discuss a scenario as it occurs, you may isolate that event rather than heaping one situation on top of another. Failure to communicate adds to your loved one’s fear of rejection.

• Remind your loved ones that you are thinking about them. People who suffer from BPD are frequently afraid of being rejected or abandoned. Knowing that someone cares can help to lessen the behaviour of splitting.

• Define your limits. It’s one thing to deal with BPD issues; it’s another to become a victim of abuse. Set boundaries with a loved one who suffers from BPD. If you ever cross that boundary, explain why you’re backing away as objectively as possible. Instead of questioning the connection, setting limits helps to sustain it.

• Look after yourself. Finding your therapist to assist you in balancing your needs with those of your loved one could be part of this.

• Make an effort to control your reaction. Keep in mind that if your loved one has BPD, you are in a better position to regulate your fury. Using profanity or displaying aggression can only exacerbate the problem.

Safety

You may need to take more harsh measures at times. If the relationship is causing harm to your family, your job, or your feeling of well-being, you may have to accept the fact that it cannot continue.

While this is a complicated option for everyone concerned, it is also the healthiest in some circumstances. This decision should be made with the assistance of a skilled mental health practitioner if necessary.

When someone is having trouble with their mental health or Borderline Personality Disorder , they often don’t say anything. It may be especially true for people who suffer from a borderline personality disorder (BPD), as many grew up in abusive or invalidating circumstances that discouraged open communication.

Maybe you know deep down that you want to ask for love but don’t know-how, so you “test” people to see whether they care. Maybe you’re afraid that if you tell people about the storm of emotions rising inside you, they’ll abandon you. Perhaps you’re ashamed of your feelings and don’t want to confess that you have them.

There are various reasons why someone with Borderline Personality Disorder BPD could use “code words” to indicate that they require assistance. While we must talk about these code phrases to recognise people who are struggling, it’s equally critical to remember that direct communication is the best method to reach out to your loved ones if you need assistance. Dr April Foreman, a BPD expert, shared three helpful ideas to The Mighty on how to get needs met.

We asked our Borderline Personality Disorder community to share what they say to loved ones in times of need to find out the “code words” that imply “I need help.”

What they told us was as follows:

We asked our BPD community to share what they say to loved ones in times of need to find out the “code words” that imply “I need help.”

What they told us was as follows:

“I’m fine.”

“I become withdrawn, and my responses are typical ‘OK,’ ‘Sure,’ ‘Alrighty,’ and if someone asks, ‘Are you feeling OK?,’ my generic response is ‘I’m good,’ but all I want is to be hugged and assured it’s OK to feel the way I do.”

“‘I’m alright,’ she says Borderline Personality Disorder , ‘it’s just…’ That suggests I’m not in good shape. If I genuinely say I’m not OK, I’m not OK anymore, and I’m on the verge of collapsing.”

 “I’m not feeling well.”

“‘I’m not feeling so well.’ If I had the nerve to say this, it means I have a storm of emotions raging inside of me, and I feel like if nobody takes me out of it right now, I’m going to lose it. My final cries for assistance before everything falls apart. People don’t always get it, which leads to crises… it makes me feel alone and as if no one will ever help me get over it. Like I can’t trust anyone because they’ll let me down when I’m in the most desperate need.”

“Whenever I’m in pain, I say, ‘I don’t feel good,’ but most people assume I’m referring to a physical ailment with Borderline Personality Disorder. It’s difficult when I don’t want to express myself directly but desperately want someone to comprehend what I’m saying.”

 “I have no idea.”

“It typically means I’m feeling so many emotions with Borderline Personality Disorder that I don’t know which one is in charge, and I need a complete takeover at that point.” ‘I’m lost and bewildered. Please take care of me,’ I want to say.

 “I’m sorry.”

“When I’m worry, I am sorry for the most.” I fell worry of losing someone, and of everything about myself and my life. ‘Please accept my apologies.’ Sorry for the inconvenience. ‘Please don’t toss me out.’

 “I’m fine; I just have a headache.”

“I find myself repeating this a lot when someone realises my mood has sunk to divert attention away from the fact that I’m struggling.” My close friends and loved ones now understand this as code for me struggling, even if I don’t realise it myself, because I’ve done it so much.”

 “I despise you.”

“I tell them I ‘detest’ them [or] ‘go out as soon as I split on them.” I’m shouting, ‘Help me in my thoughts, but my mouth is just spewing venom. When I need support the most, I sabotage myself. Just waiting for the next time makes me sick.

“Would you like to hang out?”

“It’s typically because I don’t want to be alone if I ask or try every day.

“‘Would anyone like to do anything?’ I usually don’t want to do anything and don’t have any plans; all I want to know is if anyone wants to do something with me.”

 “I have a strange feeling…”

“‘My hands/arms feel strange,’ or ‘I don’t feel like my body belongs to me since I’m dissociating so much,’ I’m sure the remark will make everyone around me chuckle, making.  I have a strange felling.

“‘I’m not feeling well.’ It’s the only thing that comes to mind while drowning in my thoughts. Fortunately, the people in my life have learned to act quickly when I say anything like this, so I don’t have a full-fledged breakdown.”

 “All right.”

“When I don’t have the energy or room in my head to digest what people are saying to me/telling me/asking me, I just react with ‘OK.'”

 “I’m not sure.”

“People ask me what’s wrong, I give answers this because I’m confused and can not control my emotions, and I need help.”

“I’ve had a lot on my plate.”

“I’ve just been so busy,” I explain, “because if I don’t give instances, I’m lying and isolating myself because I feel alone or unworthy of attention and affection.”

 “I’m exhausted.”

“I tell my family and friends that I’m wary of being tired of myself — tired of over-feeling emotions, tired of making social and relationship mistakes, tired of making mistakes when I’m trying so hard to be good.” That is unmistakably my code for “I require assistance.”

 “How are you doing?”

“‘How are you doing?’ ‘How are things in your life?’ To someone, I don’t see too often, in general. It’s my way of diverting my focus and establishing a new ‘normal.’

 “I’m going to bed again.”

“‘I’m just going back to bed,’ she says. When I’m feeling numb, I say this. Sleeping resets everything, so when I’ve had enough, I say I’m going back to bed, but what I need is someone to distract me. Otherwise, I’ll lie awake for hours, overthinking and not sleeping.

“Perhaps I was born to be alone.”

“I say this to my significant other when I’m trying to lure him closer by pushing him away. I need him to tell me that I’m not alone and that he has no intention of abandoning me. Unfortunately, I say this while we’re bickering, and he’s worn out from my emotional roller coaster.”

 “I’m so overwhelmed.”

“When I’m overloaded, I usually have a nervous breakdown.” I struggle to keep everything under control, and when something unexpected occurs, I am left with no resources and fall apart. It’s quite difficult for me to control that aspect of this beast.

Borderline Personality Disorder

Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a mental illness that causes people to have a lot of changes in their moods, behaviors, and self-image over time. People with BPD often have bouts of anger, anxiety, or depression that last for a few hours or days. People with BPD can have mood swings, making them more impulsive and making their relationships less stable.

People who have Borderline Personality Disorder BPD have many things that can start their symptoms. The rejection or abandonment can be a common trigger, as can the remembrance of a traumatic childhood event. 1

There are many things that people with BPD have to deal with. Keep reading to learn more.

Take the test to find out what kind of personality disorder you have.

For a list of BPD triggers

A trigger is an event or situation that makes you feel bad. These feelings can be inside you, like a thought or a memory. They can also be outside of you, like an argument with your partner or a job loss. People with Borderline Personality Disorder can get very ill because of things like the following

Relationships

Relationships are one of the main things that make people with Borderline Personality Disorder angry. People with the disorder are more sensitive to being left by their loved ones than normal. This makes people feel very afraid and angry.

Sometimes, a person with BPD might hurt themselves or try to kill themselves if the relationship with their partner makes them feel rejected, criticized by the other person, or like they’re going to be left.

People with BPD, for example, might think bad things if they reach out to a friend and don’t hear back in a short amount of time. Then their thoughts get out of control, and they conclude that they don’t have any friends, which makes them feel very sad and could lead to self-harm.

Having a relationship trigger and having BPD are both things that can happen.

Many things can make someone with BPD have an episode. Romantic relationships aren’t the only thing that can do this. Relationships with friends, family, and coworkers can also cause symptoms if they experience any rejection, criticism, or threat of being left behind by them.

Trauma

Having BPD and having triggers can both be caused by childhood trauma. People with Borderline Personality Disorder BPD are more likely to have been abused as children, such as being emotionally and physically neglected and sexually abused. This is based on research.

It can be hard for people with Borderline Personality Disorder to forget things that happened to them, even if they think about them or see things that remind them of the event. This makes their symptoms and feelings even worse.

Criticism

The person might be very sensitive to any criticism if they have Borderline Personality Disorder. It’s not just one thing that makes someone with BPD feel bad when criticized. It’s an attack on their character that paints a picture of how they’re being rejected. When a person with BPD feels rejected, their symptoms can worsen, and so can their impulsive or self-harming behaviors, making them more stressed.

The loss of jobs

People with BPD often get angry when they lose a job because it makes them feel rejected and critical. Any situation that makes them feel rejected or critical can make their symptoms worse or cause them to get worse.

During an episode of BPD,

There are many ways that people with the disorder deal with their symptoms, and each one is unique. How do you know if something is getting worse in a person with BPD?

• Extreme outbursts of anger that are not justified

Bouts of depression or anxiety that make you feel very down

At least one of the following: • Suicide or self-harming behaviors

• Impulsive actions that they wouldn’t do if they weren’t in a dysregulated state, like spending too much money or eating too much at one time. •

• A shaky sense of self

There are two types of dissociation:

There is a link between BPD and substance abuse. When a person withBorderline Personality Disorder has a flare-up of symptoms, they may do reckless or impulsive things, like use drugs or alcohol, to deal with the stress. Nearly all people with BPD have a substance abuse disorder at some point in their lives. They are more likely to be reckless and try to kill themselves than people who only have BPD. People with both Borderline Personality Disorder and substance abuse disorder are more likely to do this than people who only have BPD.

Borderline personality disorder, a mental illness that causes emotional problems and unstable relationships, has a lot of bad press. So hard to find a movie that accurately portrays it. Many people only know about BPD through stereotypes, so it’s easy to wonder if there are any depictions of BPD and its symptoms in pop culture at all.

While it may seem that Hollywood only shows BPD in bad movies or doesn’t show it at all, there are movies that some people think accurately show what people with BPD go through. With the help of people in our BPD community, we looked at the movies below to see how they show borderline personality disorder symptoms. People with BPD or other mental illnesses aren’t shown in all of the movies on this list. Many of them only show common signs of BPD.

Before we get started, we wanted to give a quick overview of the nine classic symptoms of BPD that we used as a guide for our research:

People with Borderline Personality Disorder show signs.

1. Making frantic efforts to avoid real or fictitious leaving.

2. This is also known as “black and white thinking” or “splitting.” It’s when you have a lot of unstable relationships where you either overvalue or undervalue someone.

3. Having a shaky sense of self-image or identity.

4. Doing things that are risky or impulsive.

5. Having a lot of suicidal thoughts or hurting yourself.

6. Feeling intense emotions or having a lot of quick mood changes.

7. Feeling empty all the time.

8. Living with a lot of anger that you can’t control.

9. Feeling like you’re “out of the body,” not connected to yourself, or not being able to feel your own body.

Without any more ado, here are the movies that mostly got the symptoms of BPD right:

1. ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’

The movie called “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” is one of the best movies ever made.

What kind of movie is “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”? It’s a science-fiction romantic comedy/drama about the relationship between introverted Joel Barish (Jim Carrey) and free-spirited Clementine Kruczynski (Claire Danes) (Kate Winslet). The main conflict comes from the fact that a procedure can erase memories. Clementine goes through this procedure to forget about Joel.

It doesn’t say that Clem has a borderline personality disorder or that she’s the antithesis of the “Manic Pixie Dream Girl” (MPDG) trope, but some think she’s a good example of both of these things. As the movie goes on, we learn that some of the “free-spirited” things she does are signs of deeper problems. Alison Herman wrote a blog post on Flavorwire called, “It’s a good thing that I don’t have a lot of money.”

It turns out that pouring booze into her coffee isn’t a cute thing that she does. It’s a sign that she has a drinking problem that caused her to wreck Joel’s car. She’s moody, irresponsible, and resentful of Joel to the point of being mean. Then, of course, she’s been called “impulsive” a lot by herself and by everyone else who knows her.

Because of her impulsivity and addiction problems, it might be a sign that Clem has BPD. Her emotional intensity and idealization/devaluation of Joel could also be signed. However, even if Clem wasn’t written with this specific diagnosis in mind, many people with BPD can connect with her. People in the Mighty community Kayla Z. said she felt like “a mix of the female characters in Silver Linings Playbook and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.”

2. ‘Wreck-It Ralph’

As a character in Wreck-It Ralph, John C. Reilly plays Wreck-It Ralph. He’s tired of always being the bad guy in his game compared to Fix-It Felix, who’s a lot of fun (Jack McBrayer). Wreck-It Ralph wants to be a game hero and get rid of his bad reputation, but instead, he wrecks the arcade.

If you watch the movie Wreck-It Ralph, you’ll see a lot of typical borderline personality disorder (BPD) symptoms, even though the movie doesn’t talk about mental health. One of the things he shows most clearly is his impulsive behaviour.

Wreck-It Ralph is a person who acts quickly. His emotions are always pushing him to make decisions that don’t make any sense. Because he wants to be liked by others and be accepted, he jumps into games and breaks many rules. This eventually puts his life in danger.

In addition to being impulsive, he also tends to let his emotions get the best of him and be afraid of being alone. In the movie’s sequel, “Ralph Breaks the Internet,” @clarence noticed that Wreck-It Ralph’s character was very different from the first one.

“While the movie doesn’t talk about mental health, Ralph has problems with attachment to Venelope,” she said in her review. “I cry every time I watch this movie because it makes me feel so good about myself.” The only media I think has shown how afraid I am of being alone and how dependent I am on one person.

3. ‘Girl, Interrupted’

Teenage Girl, Interrupted is set in the 1960s, and it tells the storey of Susan Kaysen, who was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder (BPD) after she tried to kill herself. Kaysen makes friends with other women who have mental health problems during her stay, including Lisa Rowe (Angelina Jolie).

Susanna has been diagnosed with BPD, but some people don’t think that fits her. Instead, they think Lisa is more like them. Mighty contributor Alea D. wrote of the movie,

On the other hand, Susanna isn’t someone I could relate to at all. I could relate to a few of the other actors’ traits more than I could relate to Susanna. Lisa can be manipulative, think in black and white, and harm herself. It was hard to tell that Susanna had BPD, but her thoughts and mood were mostly clear.

Some people say that the movie goes too far by romanticizing mental illness and comparing it to being “cool but not well-known.” People who work with mental health problems wrote about this on The Radical Idea.

“Girl, Interrupted,” though one of the more well-known books or movies about mental illness, isn’t the only one out there. However, it has resonated with young women more than other books or movies about mental illness. Because there are benefits to that. But if you zoom out and look at how mental illness is shown in books and movies, there’s a problem with that. Is it being romanticized in a way that makes it not seem real? The romanticization of mental illness makes it seem less bad and more appealing, making it seem like a cool thing to have instead of a painful thing to deal with.

4. ‘Welcome to Me

“Welcome to Me” is a 2014 comedy-drama that tells the storey of Alice Klieg, a woman with borderline personality disorder (BPD). She wins the lottery and uses the money to make a talk show about herself.

BPD is mostly known for having unstable relationships with other people, which we see in Alice’s life. Alice has a talk show called “Welcome to Me,” She does skits based on her past experiences, good, bad, and embarrassing. She also talks about what she’s learned. She calls out people in her life in the process of exposing a lot of social wounds that haven’t been healed. People who don’t get help for their BPD may have a hard time with this lack of social awareness and oversharing of personal information.

Overall, the movie does a good job of making BPD seem more human and funny. One of the plot points isn’t entirely true. As soon as Alice gets rich, she stops taking her medicine, which is supposed to “explain” some of her weird behaviour. For clarity’s sake, it’s important to point out that there isn’t a specific medication that can help with BPD on its own. They may be taking medication to treat other mental illnesses, like anxiety and depression, which may help with their BPD symptoms somehow, but this isn’t the only way.

5. The “Silver Linings Playbook.”

A man with bipolar disorder named Pat Solitano (Bradley Cooper) is the main character in the movie “Silver Linings Playbook.” Tiffany Maxwell (Jennifer Lawrence), a woman who many belief has BPD, is also the main character. She is not given a specific diagnosis in the movie. In the movie, Pat and Tiffany deal with the loss of their relationship (Pat’s marriage broke up, and Tiffany was recently widowed). They work through the process together.

6. ‘Star Wars’ Episodes II and III

Movies like “Star Wars” follow the space adventures of a lot of different people, like Yoda, Princess Leia, and Luke Skywalker, “a long time ago in a galaxy that was far, far away.” Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christiansen), played by Hayden Christiansen in the movie, has a borderline personality disorder. Many people know about the movie, but they may not have thought to link it to borderline personality disorder.

People in the mental health field have used Anakin Skywalker (also known as Darth Vader) to show how BPD works. Kellyann N., a member of the community, told us this.

If you have BPD, I’m going to have to say Anakin Skywalker from “Star Wars.” I can relate to him. He has a lot of thoughts and fears about being abandoned and lost, as well as a lot of intense passion and sensitive, emotional responses. He also has a lot of paranoid ideas about who is on his side, and he has a lot of intense shifts between what he thinks, does, and how he feels about people in his life – like splitting. These are all signs of BPD. The second and parts of the third movie show it all.

Another important thing about this picture of BPD symptoms is that the person who had them was a man. Women are more likely to be diagnosed with BPD than men are, but the truth is that both sexes can be affected by it.

Anakin Skywalker has a lot of “classic” symptoms of BPD, but it’s important to point out that having a lot of BPD symptoms isn’t the same as having a lot of BPD.

7. ‘Thirteen’

“13” is a drama about two troubled teenage girls, Tracy (Evan Rachel Wood) and Evie (Julia Roberts). It looks at how their relationship is affected by their dysfunctional family and how it helps them be close to each other (Nikki Reed). The movie is known for its themes of teenage angst and self-destruction. It was based on Reed’s life from 12 to 13.

People with a borderline personality disorder often have trouble controlling their emotions, and they often use drugs or self-harm to deal with the pain they feel. Tracy cuts herself all over the movie. Evie, who came from a broken home, introduces Tracy to the world of sex, drugs, and crime.

“Borderline Personality Disorder in the Movies” by David M. Allen M.D. says that Evie’s background is a good representation of how many people with BPD have a bad childhood. The most common mental illness with a strong link to childhood trauma is BPD. For people who don’t know, that’s what it is. He wrote:

Evie comes from a borderline abusive home. Because she lies so much, it’s hard to tell what is true and what isn’t about her. Evie says her mother is a “crack whore.” A newspaper article and burn marks show that her uncle abused her and pushed her into a fire. It’s now Brooke’s job to look after Evie. She lets her drink beer and says she can’t go to certain places, but she doesn’t seem to care about what Evie is doing and disappears for days at a time.

Many people find this movie hard to watch, so if you have a hard time with self-harm, substance abuse, or childhood trauma, you might want to avoid it even though it does a good job of showing some untreated BPD symptoms and behaviours.

8. ‘Prozac Nation’

Prozac Nation is based on Elizabeth Wurtzel’s autobiography of the same name. It tells the storey of Lizzie (Christina Ricci) as she goes through her first year at Harvard. The movie talks about divorce, drugs, sex, and mental health, which are all things that young people deal with. Lizzie is depressed, but some people think she also has BPD traits.

Tara O., a member of the Mighty community, said that “Prozac Nation” is the best show to show how BPD is. People who have unstable relationships, fear of being alone, impulsive behaviour, an unstable identity, and substance abuse are all there.

9. ‘Fatal Attraction’

“Fatal Attraction” has long been thought to be the worst movie ever made about borderline personality disorder. Following Dan Gallagher’s relationship with Alex Forrest, Forrest stalked him. She also acts violently, like boiling a rabbit, in the movie about Gallagher and Forrest. When Glenn Close, who now has a family member who has a mental illness, saw the movie, she thought it was too stigmatizing. This is what the actress said during an interview with CBS in 2013. “Fatal Attraction” played a role in the stigma. [Now], I would have a different view of that person.”

It’s not even on the list.

While most people don’t think it gets BPD right, some people can relate to some parts of Alex’s condition, even though it doesn’t. Lauren V., a community member, said that she was very powerful.

‘Fatal Attraction’ shows what it’s like to fall in love while having BPD. It then happens that the main character, who played the “one-night stand,” is completely obsessed and in love with the married man she slept with once. Her thoughts start to go off the rails, and she ends up stalking this person. If you or someone you know has BPD, you’re more likely to fall in love with people who show even the slightest amount of attention to you. I think this movie hit the nail on the head.

10. “New Moon”:

If you read or watch the second book in the Twilight Saga, “New Moon,” you’ve always thought it was the worst one. It is about Bella (Kristen Stewart), a human, and Edward (Robert Pattinson), a vampire. People who have never seen or read “Twilight” are about their star-crossed love.

When Edward and Bella break up in the second movie, he leaves town because he thinks he is too dangerous for her. A lot of the movie is about how much she misses him, making her very depressed. This time has been linked to the BPD symptom of dissociation, a mental state that makes a person forget about their current situation, thoughts and memories, and their own identity.

“I was 100% like Bella in the “Twilight” series. One Mighty BPD member, Jimmy Humphries, said that “Kristen Stewart always looked like she had BPD, and I always thought she did a good job.” “The way she focused on Edward and then drifted away in the woods and her room after he left felt like she had BPD to me,” says the author.

In addition to her possible dissociative state, she is impulsive in this movie. After a while, Bella learns that she can “hear Edward’s voice” when she does dangerous things. Edward is naturally cautious, so she starts to think about him berating her for putting herself in dangerous places. “To hear him,” she learns how to ride a motorcycle and even jumps off the top of an ocean-facing hill.

Fibres in vegetables and fruits have also been shown to slow down digestion by forming a bulk, which makes it easier for nutrients to be absorbed and prevents constipation. They can be made by fermenting in the intestine, having more fatty acids, and keeping help in Staying Healthy Is Essential

What kind of vegetable and fruits keep you Staying Healthy Is Essential

Folate is found in fruits and vegetables, as well as potassium and Vitamin C. They also have a lot of minerals and vitamins. There is no better source of nutrition than fruits and vegetables that have these vitamins in them. Many people don’t know that tomato puree is a good source of potassium. This mineral is important for good health. People should eat a lot of avocados, bananas, sweet potatoes, prunes and prune juice.

They have a lot of dietary fibre, which helps prevent constipation and keep the gut healthy. A high-fiber diet can also cut down on one risk of getting skin cancer. Staying Healthy Is Essential

Vegetables and fruits are important parts of a healthy diet that is also well-balanced. They can help people who are at risk for heart disease, some cancers, and stroke by cutting their chances. love disorder

The term “obsessive love disorder” (OLD) describes a state in which a person becomes fixated on a single person with whom they believe they are in love. You may find yourself excessively protecting your loved ones or even treating them as if they were your property.

OLD is not a medical or psychological diagnosis in and of itself, but it is frequently associated with various forms of mental disease. If you or someone you care about has any suspicions that bipolar disorder might be present, schedule an appointment with your doctor right once. Treatment can help alleviate symptoms and avoid problems in personal relationships at the same time. “

What are the symptoms of obsessive love disorder?

A need to spend all of your time with one individual idea of the person are obsessed Insecurities about your feelings for a person you’re fascinated with thinking about or acting in a way that suggests ownership Jealousy about other people’s relationships.

A lack of confidence in oneself

People with OLD may also have a hard time dealing with rejection. When a relationship ends or the other person rejects you, the symptoms may intensify. Other symptoms of this condition include:

·        Incessantly bombarding the person, they’re interested in with messages, emails, and phone calls.

•         a desire for continual reassurance

·        Being unable to keep in touch with loved ones due to a preoccupation with a single individual

•         Observing the other person’s activities

Asserting control over the other person’s movements and actions

What causes a person to develop obsessive love disorder?

There’s no one single cause of OLD. You might be at risk for developing any of the following mental health conditions in addition to schizophrenia:

Anxiety and depression related to emotional attachment

An emotional attachment disorder is a mental illness that affects persons who lack empathy or are obsessed with someone else.

Childhood experiences with parents or other caregivers can lead to attachment disorders, such as disinhibited social engagement disorder (DSED) and reactive attachment disorder (RAD).

Be wary of strangers in DSED since you could be too nice. With RAD, you may find it difficult to get along with others and cope with stress.

Personality problem on the edge love disorder

Self-image problems and mood swings are hallmarks of this mental health condition. You can go from being enraged to be overjoyed in a matter of minutes or hours if you have a borderline personality disorder.

There are also times when one is depressed or anxious. Obsessive-compulsive disorder is a personality condition that can lead a person to flip between excessive affection and severe scorn for a person.

Jealousy that is based on false assumptions in love disorder

This condition is characterized by a fixation on things that have already been demonstrated to be incorrect. You may believe that the other person has returned their affections for you, even though they have made it plain that this is not the case because of delusional jealousy.

Erotomania

This condition is a hybrid of delusional and obsessive-compulsive love disorders. For those who suffer from erotomania, it is common to assume that a high-ranking person is in love with them. As a result, the other person may be harassed, such as showing up at their office or home.

According to Comprehensive Psychiatry, Erotomaniacs may be socially isolated or

even unemployed.

Disorder of obsessive obsession (OCD) (OCD)

An OCD sufferer’s thoughts and actions are both obsessive and compulsive. They’re severe enough to cause problems in your day-to-day activities. When you suffer from OCD, your relationships may suffer due to your need for frequent validation.

If you’re plagued by obsessive thoughts about your relationship, you may be suffering from “relationship OCD.” However, this isn’t a recognized subtype of OCD by the APA.

Anxiety fueled by resentment.

Nondelusional concern with the perception of a partner’s infidelity distinguishes obsessional jealousy from delusional jealousy. Preoccupation with infidelity fears might lead to recurrent and obsessive conduct. Instead of exhibiting delusional jealousy, these actions more closely match those of an OCD sufferer. This might create a great deal of anxiety or make it difficult to go about your daily routine.

What are the symptoms of obsessive love disorder?

A psychiatrist or other mental health practitioner can identify OLD after a comprehensive review of the patient’s symptoms. To begin, you will be interrogated about your symptoms and your connections. You’ll also be quizzed on your background and any family members who may have a history of mental illness.

A medical diagnostic from your primary care physician may be required to rule out other possible reasons. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, published by the American Psychiatric Association, does not include obsessive love disorder as a separate diagnosis (DSM).

OCD is treated in what ways?

Depending on the underlying reason, a specific treatment approach is needed. Medication and psychotherapy are frequently used in conjunction, though.

Some medications can change brain chemistry. The disorder’s symptoms can be reduced as a result. One of the following may be recommended by your doctor:

Prozac, Paxil or Zoloft; antidepressants such as Prozac or Paxil; antipsychotics such as Valium or Xanax; mood stabilizers.

Your medicine may take many weeks to take effect. You may also have to experiment with several sorts until you discover the one that works best for you. Your doctor can tell you about probable side effects, such as:

The feeling of having a dry mouth

lethargy, headaches, sleeplessness, loss of libido, nausea, weight gain and increasing symptoms are all possible side effects of treatment

Older adults can benefit from therapy as well. Obsessive love disorder may have its roots in childhood difficulties, in which case including the entire family in the treatment process might be beneficial. Individual or group treatment may be an option, depending on the severity of your condition and your particular preferences. Psychiatrists may recommend both sorts of treatment at times.

Cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, play therapy (for children), and talk therapy are some of the treatment methods available.

If you have OCD, what does the future hold?

OLD is becoming increasingly popular, but it is still very uncommon. The condition is expected to affect fewer than 0.1 percent of the population.

If you or a loved one is showing signs of obsessive-compulsive disorder, visit a doctor immediately. You may be sent to a psychiatrist to see if you have OLD. In addition, you may be suffering from a different type of mental disorder.

Older adults who are diagnosed and treated can expect a favourable prognosis. However, if you think you’re doing better in therapy or treatment, don’t stop. Sudden cessation of therapy might exacerbate or recurring symptoms.

Borderline Personality Disorder Treatment and Medication

Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is sometimes treated with anti-anxiety or antidepressant drugs, which may alleviate some of BPD symptoms. While there are currently no FDA-approved pharmaceuticals for BPD treatment, several substances have been proven to be beneficial in some cases. 1

They may also treat psychological illnesses such as major depressive disorder, which frequently co-occur with BPD.

Medications may be more beneficial for BPD when combined with psychotherapy and other treatments. Learning more about the many possibilities will assist you in selecting the best drug for you.

Types of BPD Medications

Although no medicine is specially designed to treat BPD, numerous types of pharmaceuticals may be effective for treating distinct symptoms of the condition. The sort of medication that your doctor recommends will be determined by the specific symptoms and needs that you present.

Antidepressants

Antidepressants were specifically developed for individuals with major depressive disorder and other disorders characterized by low mood. But many people with BPD are treated with these medications.

Several types of antidepressants have been studied for use with BPD, including tricyclic and tetracyclic antidepressants, monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Antidepressants were designed primarily to treat people suffering from major depressive disorder and other diseases characterized by depressed mood. However, these drugs are used to treat many persons with BPD.

It has been studied that many forms of antidepressants, such as tricyclic and tetracyclic antidepressants, monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI), and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), can be used to treat bipolar disorder (SSRIs).

Common antidepressants include

  • Nardil (phenelzine)
  • Prozac (fluoxetine)
  • Zoloft (sertraline)
  • Effexor (venlafaxine)
  • Wellbutrin (bupropion)

These drugs may alleviate sorrow, low mood, anxiety, and emotional control. Still, they do not appear to significantly impact the bulk of other symptoms (e.g., anger, impulsivity).

Antipsychotics

Early psychiatrists believed that the symptoms of borderline personality disorder (BPD) were “on the border” between neurosis and psychosis, hence coining the term “borderline.” As a result, antipsychotics were among the first drugs studied for bipolar disorder.

These medications are effective in treating a range of non-psychotic diseases, including BPD. The use of antipsychotic medications has been demonstrated to improve symptoms of BPD such as anxiety, paranoid thinking, anger/hostility, and impulsivity. 1 Antipsychotics that are commonly used include:

• Abilify is a prescription medication (aripiprazole)

• Geodon (ziprasidone)

• Risperdal is a prescription medication (risperidone)

• Seroquel is a medication that is used to treat schizophrenia (quetiapine)

• Zyprexa is a prescription medication (olanzapine)

Mood Stabilizers/Anticonvulsants

Because individuals suffering from BPD are also prone to experiencing intense anxiety, medications to alleviate this condition are sometimes prescribed. Unfortunately, there is very little evidence to support the use of anti-anxiety medications to treat borderline personality disorder (BPD).

Anxiolytics that are commonly used include: • Ativan (lorazepam)

• Klonopin is a prescription medication (clonazepam)

• Xanax is an anti-anxiety medication (alprazolam)

• Valium is a prescription medication (diazepam)

• Buspar is a prescription medication (buspirone)

Some evidence suggests that using a particular class of anxiolytics, benzodiazepines (e.g., Ativan and Klonopin), may worsen symptoms in some people with bipolar disorder (BPD). They should only be prescribed under strict supervision. 1

Because they can become habit-forming, benzodiazepines are particularly dangerous when taken by people who have co-occurring substance use disorders. It is possible to use Buspar as an alternative to medications from the benzodiazepine family because it is non-addictive and does not cause dependence.

Medications for other forms of borderline personality disorder

New medications for borderline personality disorder (BPD) are being developed and tested as we learn more about the biological causes of the disorder. Researchers are investigating new medication options for treating bipolar disorder, including neuropeptide agents, cannabinoid medications, and medications that target serotonin receptors with greater specificity than previously available.

For example, data from one study suggest that taking an omega-3 fatty acid supplement can reduce aggression and feelings of anger in patients with borderline personality disorder.

Reasons for Taking Bipolar Disorder Medications

For various reasons, persons with a borderline personality disorder may wish to experiment with medication to treat their condition. An essential thing to remember is to always collaborate with your doctor to establish which drug options may be appropriate for you based on your symptoms and requirements. Some of the reasons why you might wish to try BPD drugs are as follows:

• Decrease the intensity of symptoms: Medications may be used to assist people in better controlling some of the symptoms of BPD, such as mood swings, irritability, depression, anxiety, and stress-related paranoia. • Increase the effectiveness of treatment:

As a result of the medication’s ability to alleviate some symptoms, it may also be possible to improve a person’s functioning in various areas, including relationships and daily activities.

• Prevent the worsening of symptoms: Because certain BPD symptoms may increase if left untreated, using medication to alleviate those symptoms may be beneficial. • Improve the quality of life: By research findings, the frequency and severity of BPD symptoms tend to decrease as people get older. 3

In addition, borderline personality disorder frequently co-occurs with other conditions that can interact, overlap, and make it more difficult to diagnose BPD accurately.

• Treat co-occurring conditions: Borderline personality disorder frequently co-occurs with other conditions that can interact, overlap, and make it more difficult to diagnose BPD accurately.

Depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, substance use disorders, and bipolar disorder are all diseases that frequently co-occur with a borderline personality disorder.

• Reduced risk of suicide: Bipolar disorder is related to an increased risk of self-harm and suicide, among other things.

4 Because drugs may lower the frequency and severity of symptoms, and they may also minimize the chance of committing suicide.

Symptoms and Consequences

When taking drugs to treat BPD, people may have adverse effects similar to those seen when using other substances. It is crucial to note that each one has its own set of negative effects when taking medications. Following are some of the more typical side effects that you can encounter:

• Changes in one’s appetite

• Constipation

• Diarrhea

• Mouth feeling dry

• Fatigue

• Insomnia

• Nausea

Some patients may also develop allergic responses to the medications they are prescribed. If you begin to develop symptoms of an allergic response, you should seek medical assistance as soon as possible. Never hesitate to inform your doctor about any adverse effects, both common and uncommon, that you are experiencing while taking a particular drug.

To avoid potentially dangerous drug interactions, it is also critical to inform your doctor of any other medications, substances, or supplements that you are taking.

Challenges

There are a variety of difficulties that can arise when using drugs to treat borderline personality disorder (BPD). These are some examples:

There is a great degree of variability and variety in each experience’s symptoms. • People have different needs:

It is common for patients to have co-occurring conditions, making medication selection more difficult. Antidepressants, for example, should not be administered in the presence of bipolar disorder since these medications have the potential to provoke manic episodes.

Several techniques may be required: Medication may not control all of your symptoms, which is why different approaches such as psychotherapy and self-care are also needed.

Precautions

Some precautions should be followed before using a drug to treat bipolar disorder. Among the issues to consider are the following:

• Some people may experience worsening symptoms when using benzodiazepines. According to research, benzodiazepines may exacerbate the symptoms of impulsivity and suicide ideation in people with bipolar disorder, and their use is prohibited. 1

• Some drugs, such as benzodiazepines, have the potential to become addictive. In addition, research suggests that patients with BPD may be at a higher risk of developing benzodiazepine dependence due to their attempts to self-medicate. 1

• Antidepressants are labelled with a black-box warning on the package. This warning states that antidepressants are connected with an elevated risk of suicide ideation in adolescents and young adults.

Coping

While psychotherapy is the gold standard for treating borderline personality disorder, medicines can effectively alleviate and manage some symptoms. Individuals who suffer from BPD can take steps to improve their ability to manage their condition. These are some examples:

Other mental health diseases such as substance abuse, anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) might make managing your BPD challenging. • Identifying and treating co-occurring conditions Taking care of your co-occurring illnesses can make you feel a lot better.

Discovering effective stress management techniques

Stress can play a significant role in increasing the symptoms of BPD, therefore identifying and implementing strategies to minimize or manage stress can be beneficial. Deep breathing, exercise, visualization, and gradual muscle relaxation are just a few of the strategies that you might wish to attempt to relax your muscles.

It is also possible to improve your everyday functioning by learning effective coping skills. For example, learning efficient strategies to deal with emotional distress and regulate impulsive actions can help you perform better in your daily life. A few tools that can assist you in developing and strengthening your coping abilities are mindfulness, social support, and dialectical behavioural therapy, among others.

Smoking is the impossible challenges for tobacco users, especially smokers, is saying goodbye to addiction. Before thinking about how to quit? A pre-requisite question should be asked from own self “why I start?

Let's Start the Challenge!

Gradual withdrawal:

Why should You Quit?

Four-week challenge

WHY I AM SMOKING?

There are three major reasons for which people start using Tobacco.

1: Financial crisis

2: Emotional breakdown 💔

3: Enjoyment/fun

While struggling with their careers, most people face failures, and they go into depression. Nicotine, one of the main toxic ingredients, is what they find in a temporary refuge.

Some people start smoking after a breakup/divorce or a cheating partner.

The third group of people who start smoking as fun or adventure are mostly the young ones who want to feel the tobacco effect and involuntarily become addicted to it.

So before quitting, you should remind yourself how you lit the first bit of Tobacco and for what reason.

Let’s Start the Challenge!

There is two major technique for quitting Tobacco.

1: Cold Turkey technique

2: Gradual withdrawal

COLD TURKEY

When you quit at once, the major effect is Goosebumps on your skin during your cravings. This Goosebumps look likes dots on frozen turkey. That’s how the terminology of Cold turkey came into being. Cold Turkey is the abrupt quit that needs a lot of determination, consistency, and faith in yourself. Research shows its success percentage is just 4 to 6 percent. If a thousand addicts adopt a cold turkey, the chance is only 40 to 60 will be successful for up to six months. So these figures are nearly impossible and unfavorable. These numbers are also discouraging for those who choose that path. We will not recommend you this method. We don’t mean that it’s impossible, but the hardships of defending cravings are so strong that it would make you repent on your decision to quit this bad habit.

Gradual withdrawal:

In this method, you slowly reduce the dose, which results in the gradual reduction of nicotine without much burden. This is the most successful technique if executed properly.

In this blog, we will focus more on those steps which would make it easier for you.

Why should You Quit Smoking?

An important question is why you should quit? Ask yourself. Smoking affects not only your health but also your distant you from your loved ones.

Imagine sitting among your non-smoker family members. Deep inside, you feel like an alien who is different from them. Who is addicted nicotine depended slave caught in chains of cravings? Not only this, the roasted smell coming through your breath badly affects your self-confidence and changes your whole personality into passiveness.

As for as health is considered it’s the main cause of cancer. It turns your body into ashes. So you have plenty of reasons to quit. When you seriously think about those reasons, it will strengthen your decision to say goodbye to Tobacco.

Four-week challenge.

First of all, note down how many cigarettes you smoke per day. Also, which times you smoke more and after which drink or meal your cravings for tobacco trigger. Write all those related things about your habit on a paper.

Let say you smoke 40 cigarettes.

Divide 40 by four. That’s ten cigarettes.

So you have to drop ten cigarettes every new week.

First week:

Make an excel sheet on your smartphone for putting down the values. In the first week, you have to minimize the daily usage by ten cigarettes. From day 1 to day seven, instead of 40, you have to smoke 30/day. Avoid sitting in those places where you usually smoke and try to talk to yourself while smoking. This will reduce the amount of nicotine as the less you will puff, the lesser will enter your capillaries. Once a cigarette is half done, throw it away.

Do this practice for seven days.

Second week:

Now you are in your eight-day and from day 8 to day 14, you have a new pattern of things to do. For the last seven days, you have been smoking 30 cigarettes. Now make it 20 per day. Try to avoid solitude; instead, go for a walk with your non-smoker friends. Read online blogs about health and exercise. Go out for a movie. Try the use of chewing gums. Go to sleep early because the more your brain is awake, the more it will carve for nicotine, so during the daytime, try to make yourself busy like labor and reduce the free time as much as possible.

Third week:

If you have successfully followed the pattern of nicotine drainage, then congrats, your body is addicted to 50 percent less nicotine than day 1. Now is time to replace 20 cigarettes with 10. For this, you have to make a chart of some new habits and hobbies which could play an important role in your fight. How about gardening? You could do this for an hour in the evening instead of thinking about unnecessary problems. What about cooking? Let us try some Indian masala cuisines from YouTube.   Like trying biryani and chicken. Let’s experiment in the kitchen, imagining yourself a threat to Gordan Ramsey’s career. Boy, stick to 10 no matter how many things you have to learn as a bonus. You can do it. You will do it.

Fourth week:

First thing first.

Replace 10 with five and try to smoke one cigarette in episodes. Light! Puff!

Puff! And cut it head for the next craving. Now is the time to dodge your brain by confusing it in numbers. Please do it for the next seven days while drinking more and more water, excreting every bit of nicotine from your body.

D-Day

For the last month, you were fighting a battle like some roman gladiator. This was one of the longest battles of your life. You were fighting for your health,  wealth, and loved ones. Now you are strong enough to cut the head of the monster which brought darkness to your past. Come on, Boyka! Could you do it now? Throw the last cigarette into the dump.   Now you are a freeman. And the king of your life.

Now you have to protect your throne from the monsters. Do not let them enter into your kingdom again. Build an army of positivity. Make the walls of good. Habits and hobbies are higher and stronger so that no black force can penetrate again.
