3.TALK ON THE PANEL
Ken Fulk, the creator of this Sonoma, California, estate, put ornate wood paneling on the walls of the dining room and put a big French table from the 1800s in the middle to give it a sense of history. 7.Blue Rush
Designer Alec Holland says of this new project in the Hamptons, “We were both aware that dining rooms are naturally very traditional.” “However, we were sure this would be fun.” The designer added a Yves Klein blue and bright apple-green finish to a heavy, traditional table in one of our favorite recent ELLE DECOR do-it-yourself projects.
8.NOT ON THE WALL
Show it off if you have it! This was the case with Natalia Miyar, a designer who worked with Fromental on a line of wallpaper. Of course, it’s the happy background for her dining room. She tells us, “If I could wallpaper every room, I probably would!”

Eating should take you somewhere else, and this lush wallpaper from Calico in the Future Perfect’s Los Angeles location is the perfect scene for a culinary adventure.

Victorian snail grottos (who knew?) are a beautiful touch in this perfectly charming scene from Elizabeth Mollen’s reimagining of a Tudor house in the Chicagoland area. The light blue walls make the happy mood even stronger.

Even if you only have a small eating area, like this breakfast nook by Katch Interiors, you can still make it unique with long drapes and a fun light fixture, like this Pelle bubble chandelier.

Mara Brock Akil is a writer and director who lives in Hollywood. If you do too, your home will definitely have its share of glitz. A vintage conference room table was turned into a dining room table, and it was surrounded by light-as-air vintage chairs and topped with a beautiful Murano chandelier. The art was made by Elon Brasil.
15.GLAMOUR OF GUSTAVIAN
On the list? Style and class. It’s also not what we would expect from Lauren Buxbaum Gordon, who works with Nate Berkus on designs. To finish off this new project in New York, she put a set of French Louis XVI–style dining chairs around an old Gustavian dining table and added a lamp by Rose Uniacke.
