There was a minor charge against the rapper, who won three awards at the Grammys Premiere Ceremony on Sunday, February 4.
Killer Mike was caught at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles before the 2024 Grammy Awards show on Sunday night (February 4).
That night, before the show, the rapper got three awards:Winners for Michael include Best Rap Album, Best Rap Performance for “Scientists & Engineers,” and Best Rap Song. The Hollywood Reporter was told by a venue security guard that the rapper was being held on a misdemeanour charge and that the LAPD would be involved. At press time, no one knew what the charge was, but it is said to have nothing to do with an award show. There was a film clip from the venue of Killer Mike being handcuffed and taken away. Billboard has asked the LAPD and Killer Mike’s agents for their thoughts.
The problem is “a big nothing,” according to THR. The source also says that Killer Mike might be freed tonight. He was seen talking to security and Killer Mike’s team. Harvey Mason Jr. is the CEO of the Recording Academy.
In the morning, the 48-year-old rapper received his Premiere Ceremony awards and told the crowd, “You can’t tell me you get too old.” It’s not too late; you can’t tell me that.”
“Ignore those who say you’re too old to rap. He said this at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles before the Grammys: “Make sure we keep hip-hop alive. I don’t care if you’re 78 rapping about how many gals you got in the nursing home.”
Killer Mike’s first Grammy was for “The Whole World” with OutKast. It was for best rap performance by a band or group.
It was posted by mistake on X (formerly Twitter) that Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice’s “Barbie World” won best rap song on Sunday. The real winner was Killer Mike’s “Scientists & Engineers,” which includes Andre 3000, Future, and Eryn Allen Kane.
